Today we introduced our new grammatical concept, Direct Objects, You have to find the subject and verb first. Then ask the question, "What?" For example, in the sentence below, the subject is cat and the verb is ate:
The cat ate the food on the kitchen table.
Can you find the direct object? The cat ate what? Certainly NOT the kitchen table!
No homework tonight.
The direct object in the sentence above is food. Remember that some sentences do not have direct objects.
