Direct Objects

Today we introduced direct objects. They occur in the predicate after action verbs. Please remember, if the sentence has a linking verb (am,is,are, was, were,be,being, been), you will look for Predicate Adjectives or Predicate Nouns. When you see an action verb, you must say the subject and the verb and then ask the question: What?

For example:

Logan kicked the football.

Subject: Logan
Action verb: kicked

Logan kicked what?

The answer to that will be the direct object. In this case, it is football.

No homework tonight.
