Space Zombies on the Planet Zoltar

Chapter 2

I was terrified. I thought to myself, "Thank God my family isn't here right now." I remembered that my partner Joe Mayfield came a week earlier. I thought I should start to look for him and see if he could tell me what is happening.
So I started to walk around and looked into some buildings. Nobody was around at all. "I wonder where everyone went?" I thought to myself. "Maybe they went to the Capitol building. They'd be the safest there." So I started in the direction of the Capitol building which was twenty blocks away. I didn't have any way to get around, and there surely wouldn't be any buses or cabs running so I started on foot.
As I walked all I saw were more empty buildings and abandoned cars. "I wonder where all the space zombies are?" I thought, only half believing it was true. As soon as I thought that, I looked down a street and saw a crowd. As I started to walk down the street I realized that there would be no Zoltarians out on the street as this is the time of day they are praying to their Gods. Their faith says that they can't be out when they should be praying.
I realized that they weren't Zoltarians, but space zombies!!!! I was now three blocks away from the Capitol building. I slowly started to walk away from the crowd trying not to gain their attention. I got away without any spaces zombies realizing that I was ever there.
I was at the Capitol building now. I knocked on the door and a loud voice said, "You space zombies have 10 seconds before I blow your brains out!" Since I knew the Zoltarians were peaceful people and didn't have weapons I immediately knew it was Joe.
"Joe, it's me, Tom!" I yelled. Suddenly the door flew open and I was pulled into a crushing hug.
"Tom, I was afraid you wouldn't get my message in the sand and that the zombies got you!" he told me dragging me into the safety of the Capitol building. Joe might seem like a tough guy but when you get to know him he turns to be a major softy. Over the years of working together he became more like a brother to me.
"Your message was the first thing I saw after I got off the spaceship. I thought this was a joke at first but then I saw a crowd of space zombies three blocks back on Shooting Star Boulevard. I thought they were Zoltarians, but I remembered this is their prayer time," I told him as we walked through the building. "When did all of this happen?" I asked wanting answers to how this happened. Zoltar is the most secure planet in the galaxy since they couldn't defend themselves due to their non-violence beliefs and lack of weapons.
As we walked, we entered a room full of Zoltarians. Joe took me over to a group of scientists that I never met. "This is Ziggy, head scientist of the Zoltar Research Group. They are always making sure that the planet and its inhabitants are safe from disease and natural disaster," Joe told me pointing to a tall Zoltarian with translucent green skin and large blue almond-shaped eyes. I saw him before but I can't remember when or where.
Ziggy looked at us and bowed, the Zoltarian way of greeting people. Then he said to me, "Hello, I presume that you are Thomas the Interplanetary Communications Technician and Joseph's partner. I guess that you are wondering how we all ended up in the Capitol building while space zombies are taking over our city." I was shocked that he knew so much.
"How do you know all of this? I never met you but you know my name. And how did you know that I was going to ask how you all ended in the Capitol building with space zombies taking over the city?" I asked trying to figure it out.
"You don't know me but you know my brother Beldar. He owns the building where you rent your apartment. He told me about you. You thought I was Beldar at first didn't you? Well you should know that we are identical twins. and as for how I knew that you are going to ask about the space zombies, any sane person would ask that first," he told me. I suddenly remembered Beldar and his kind smile whenever I would return to Zoltar. And anyone who was sane would ask that. I suddenly felt embarrassed.
"Well can you tell me how the space zombies got here?" I asked him.
"There was a breach in the security of our planet. They were somehow able to hack into our system and take down the wall. They're not able to get into our Capitol building because the security is highest here and as soon as I found out they invaded our planet I went and made the security here even higher so the citizens would be safe," he told me with a worried look on his face.
"Wait, if the space zombies can invade Zoltar, the safest planet in the galaxy then....," I couldn't finish because if it turned out to be true my family wouldn't be safe.
"Yes they can invade and take over any planet then.

The House

Chapter 2

Kathy was screaming as loud as she could. She was yelling for May. When Kathy realized May and her got split up, she started screaming and weeping, not able to control herself. May heard this and panicked.

May and Kathy were very close. They always had sleep overs and told each other secrets. Even though there is a three year age difference, May and Kathy were still best friends. May treated Kathy like she was her little sister.

As May ran as fast as she could she heard the howling again. Then she heard a boy scream for help. She thought, "Oh no! Not John ....... or Adam."

She yelled as loud as she could, "John are you ok?"

She heard him answer, "Yeah! It wasn't Adam or me who screamed. We are together!"

"Thank God! I can see Kathy she is just a couple feet away from me," May answered back.

"Ok. Get Kathy and run as fast as you can out of the woods! We will be right behind you," yelled John.

May put Kathy on her back and ran as fast as she could toward the town, the houses, and all of the people. The sky was now very dark with only the slightest streaks of sunlight in it, but you could tell it was almost night.

As they reached the dead end street May set Kathy down. She looked around to see if the boys were out yet, but she didn't see anyone. She yelled, "John are you coming?" But there was no answer. May began to panic. She could not understand what was happening.

She yelled again, "Adam are you ok?" But once again there was no answer.

Kathy looked up into May's eyes with fear, worry, anger, and distress all combined. Now you have to remember Kathy is only 8 years old. She looks up to May and to her brother. Right now she is scared to death for all three of them, though.

May is scared too, but doesn't show it as much. She knows that she must stay brave for Kathy's sake. Still she feels she has to keep yelling for her cousin and friend. So she yelled once again, "John, Adam come on. Stop playing tricks. We have to go."

Then she saw the bush begin to shake. Both of the boys jumped out and yelled, "Run!"

Before May new it she was running home with Kathy held tightly in her arms. When they got to the house, May asked, "What happened?"

"We saw a.. a... g.. g.. ghost!" answered Adam.

Cafeteria Invasion

Chapter 2

"We have to stop him," Mort said in panic.

"Wait a second if we confront him, we we'll get in trouble," Doug said.

"No we wont, Mort said,"I mean, we already hid back here. I mean we can't get in trouble anymore." Before they could walk away, Mr.Dimond and the other cafeteria workers grabbed Mort and Doug and shoved them into the Freezer. "Help! Help! us we're stuck in here Help!

"Mort, stop screaming. I'll get us out of here. Don't worry," Doug said thoughtfully.

Doug ran up to the door and banged on it. Again and again he tried, but every time he failed. "We're going to die in here," Doug cried. Just then a beam of light came out of nowhere, sucking up Mort and Douglas along with other items in the freezer. Then everything went black.

"Wher...where are we?" Mort said grunting as he tried to sit up. "Hey, why cant I get up?" Mort looked down to see that his hands were bound to a chair, and he had some sort of a helmet on his head.

"Mort....psst Mort," Doug said whispering. " Look there's Principal CornBlooth, and there's Mr.Dimond, Miss Holly, and the others.

"What's going on here?" Mort said trying to say in a whisper, but instead said in the loudest voice possible.Behind him he could hear a high pitched squeaky voice.

"Oh, I See our guests are awake, Glubnub." said the mysterious alien thing.

"So they are Slimpyump,"said Glubnub.

"WHO ARE YOU?!?!?!?!?!?" Mort screamed to the top of his lungs, and soon realized that that wasn't the best choice.

"Pathetic humans asking who? what? when? where? how? geez it's so annoying why cant they simply not say anything," said the alien that took over Principal Cornblooth. Soon the aliens started walking towards Mort and Doug, holding onto a vile of something with the same creepy half smile they have all-ways had. When they had reached the two, Mort quickly blurted out something.

"Please I beg you tell us what is happening,"Mort said.

"Should we?" asked Glubnub. Instead of answering, the Aliens shook their heads in unison.

"Well Mort looks like this Is the end of us. I guess we're going to become one of them," Doug said shedding one last tear as the brain controlled teachers that Mort and Doug once knew reached over and injected the goo into Doug. Mort realized that that He had the chance to escape form the U.F.O. He reached in his pocket and found that he had some matches that Doug had given to him at the bus stop earlier that morning.

Mort whispered to himself, "I'm not supposed to play with matches but if it will burn the leather restrains, then it's all I have." Mort looked around making sure that the Aliens didn't see him (they were too busy putting the needle In Doug's arm), Mort slid one on the box and started to burn the leather. POP! the first one is off. POP! the second one came off.

"Now I Need to distract the aliens so I can save Doug. Think Mort! think!"

All of sudden without thinking, Mort threw the match box and it hit a canister and made a Clink! sound.

"What was that sound, Glubnub?"said Slimpyump.

"I don't know. How about we all go check together," Glubnub said. The Dimwitted brain controlled things followed the noise and gave Mort a chance to save Doug. He quickly ran over and untied Doug's restrains.

"I don't feel well Mort," Doug said coughing and gagging. "Just leave me. I won't turn Into one of them. I promise I won't, Buddy."

"No you're coming with me," Mort said aggressively.Mort with all his strength (which he didn't have much of) jumped off the spaceship carrying Doug and landing in the school dumpster.Mort left Doug there and walked into the school and headed to the Nurse's Office. The School had an eerie feel to it. No one was around and the only sound you could hear was the Tick Tock Tick Tock of the only working clock in his school. When he reached the office we entered, and there sat Mrs.HifflePiffle the Nurse.

"Excuse Mrs.HifflePiffle I was wondering if I can burrow..um...a needle, medicine, and a bandage if you have," Mort said in a sweet voice. Mrs.HifflePIffle's chair slowly turned around and there she sat with a slightly different half smile. This one had been forced up and she said In a softened voice, "Get Out. Get out now before its too late! leave NOW!" Mort slowly left and ran to the recess yard and sat on a swing thinking to himself about what was happening.

"OK so first It was the shadow above the school and the sounds, half smiles and goo, high pitched voices." All of this ran through his head but two questions remained. Why were they here? and who were they? Mort stood up, and when he turned around there stood something he would soon regret to see.

"Oh God what have you done you monsters! No It cant be true noooooooooo!" Mort screamed. There stood his dear old Mother with the same old creepy smile. She headed towards him but Mort ran away before she reached him.

The Great Treasure Hunt

Chapter 2

All of a sudden Kaleigh Callahan was watching the boys cheer with excitement. Jake saw Kaleigh watching them from the corner of his eye.
Jake said,"Guess who is watching us?"
"Who dude?" asked Keith.
"Well, you think she is very hot and you want to marry her and have 10 kids,"said Jake with a smile on his face.
Keith thought for a minute and shouted,"KALEIGH!"
"Yes?"asked Kaleigh.
Keith looked up at her window and his face was so red.He saw her pretty face and thought how much she rocks that night gown.
Kaleigh then said,"So what are you guys up too?"
Keith said nothing because he was to busy staring at her and thinking how hot she was. Jake's elbow hit Keith in the side to wake him up out of his day dream.
"Wha-ho," said Keith."We found a treasure map."
Jake whispered,"What are you doing man?"
"Cool, I want in,"said Kaleigh, "just give me a few minutes to get ready. I'll meet at your house."
Jake and Keith's mouth dropped when she said that. They started to walk back to Keith's house and thought about what just happened. When they got to Keith's house, they still didn't believe what happened. In Keith's mind he was thinking this was a dream and couldn't be true, but it was true.
"I could have a chance with her if everything goes smooth,"said Keith with a smile on his face.
Jake said, "You keep telling yourself that."
Ding. The door bell rang and Jake got up and went to go answer the door because he knew it would make Keith mad. When Jake got to the door, Kaleigh opened the door and hit Jake right in the nose.
"OW!" screamed Jake.
Kaleigh shouted,"I am so sorry I did not mean to hit you in the face!"
Keith could not help but to laugh, then he ran over to see if Jake was fine.
"Are you all right, man?"asked Keith trying not to laugh at his friend.
Jake"s nose was bleeding all over the place His face was covered with blood. His nose was dripping with blood. It looked like a melting cherry pop on a hot summer day(like today). Kaleigh ran to go find some tissues for Jake. She came running with a crap load of tissues in her hand, and they were flying all over the place.
"Lean your head back,"said Kaleigh.
Jake did what she said and than, Brooke came flying into the house and hit Jake in the back of his head.
"Oh my gosh!"screamed Brooke.
Keith started busting out laughing so hard that he started snorting while he laughed and laughed away.
Kaleigh paid no attention to Keith because she was too busy helping Jake from his double injury. Brooke called her mom to come home right away, but she did not pick up her cell. Brooke went to go get some ice for Jake's head. She than came running back with a bowl of ice. The ice was flying all over the place and made a big mess right along with the tissues. Keith than stopped laughing and than started to help his
friend or even make it look like he was.
Keith than said,"We should get him to the kitchen where it's safe."
"Good idea,"said Brooke.
They started to walk to the kitchen, Jake was in front and then he slipped on the tissues and ice that the girls dropped.
"This isn't the best day for me,"said Jake.
Keith than said,"When is there ever a good day for you man?"
Finally Keith's mom came home. She looked around the house and then looked at them with an unhappy face. Jake was still on the ground. All the kids were around Jake and their eyes on Keith's mom waiting for her to blow her top off.
"I don't even want to know what happened,"said Keith's mom as calmly as she possible can.

Why Nerds Don't Make House Calls

Chapter 2

"What seems to be the problem with your robot Birdbrain?" I asked.
"Okay we need to make somethings clear. Do not call her a robot. Call her Mrs. Newman, oh and call me umm...hmm...I need ideas. You, Claw, what do you think?" Birdbrain said.
"How about umm...Birdbrain!" Claw said hesitatingly.
"No, too original." said Birdbrain. "How about you. What do you think?" Birdbrain said pointing across the room to a female parrot.
"How about Mr. Hot tamale?" she said blushing.
"Okay umm... just call me umm.. Mr Birdbrain," Mr. Birdbrain said.
"Oh, yes, sorry I got off topic.Well her eyes are not moving, and well, neither is her body," says Mr. Birdbrain.
"I think it might be something with her control inside her brain, and since I'm not as tiny as you are, I'm afraid I cannot help, I'm sorry," I said.
"I think I know someone who can help you help me," Mr. Birdbrain said.
Then I heard a knock on the door. It was 8:30. I was supposed to be home 30 minutes ago. I then looked through the peep hole.
"My mother is here," I said to Mr. Birdbrain.
"Okay meet me here tomorrow at 6:30, and remember you mustn't tell anyone about this, Okay?" said Mr. Birdbrain.
"Okay," I replied.
"So, how was it?" Mom asked me.
"Fine I have to go back tomorrow. Is that alright?" I said.
"Yeah, that's fine," she replied.

Next morning I ran to school with my friend. On the way there we saw Bob Jones the meanest boy in the school. "Hey lab rat I saw you were at little Mrs. Newman's. What were you doing there, huh?" he said. I just ignored him. "Whatever lab rat. See you in school, ha," he said.
I got out of school and ran all the way to my house, so I didn't run into Bob. Mom greeted me, "Hello sweetie how was school?"
"Fine, what's for supper?" I asked.
"Beef tips with gravy and buttered noodles," she replied. "So is Mrs. Newman nice?" she asked.
"Yeah she's nice. Oh...look at the time. I must be heading over," I said. I walked right in like it was my own house.
"Hello Aaron we have to get to work quickly follow me." Mr. Birdbrain said. I followed him down the basement steps to what seemed to be a lab.
"What is this?" I asked.
"A lab," he responded. "Boogy, are you down here?" he asked.
"Yes I'm here." said Boogy. "I have been working on your request Mr. Birdbrain. "Here Human, try this," Boogy said.

Monsters Need Heroes Too

Chapter 2

Corin looked directly at the green-skinned troll and said, "I cant do it. I can't face her."

The troll asked, "Why?"

Corin looked at his feet and answered, "I will do whatever you want, but I won't kill my best friend."

"Alright. You must find the sword and defeat the queen of the elves," said the red-skinned troll disappointed.

Corin followed the green-skinned troll down a long dark hallway, to a room with one bed. The room had a wonderfully large dresser. Looking in the dresser Corin saw many suits of armor. "I must be staying in a room that was once a knight's," he thought.

The green-skinned troll said, "Dinner will be ready in ten minutes. Don't be late, there is a lot to discuss."

"Ok. Where is the dining room?" Corin asked.

"Down three doors and to the right," the troll told him.

Corin answered, "Thank you." The troll walked out without another word.

Corin was so happy being summoned. He was waiting for this day since he was 6 years old. Now that he was here, sitting in this castle he wasn't so sure...

It was still five minutes before dinner, but when Corin got to the dining room all the trolls were already there. Corin sat down next to a blue-skinned troll. The troll said, "Hello, I'm Jewel."

"Hey, I'm Corin. Nice to meet you," he said.

The troll laughed, and said, "Everyone knows who you are. You are our hero, the one that will defeat the queen of the elves!"

"Really?" said Corin questioningly. "Everyone knows who I am?"

"Of course!" answered the blue-skinned troll.

Back home, Corin was just another hopeless kid in Willowcreek, waiting to be summoned. Now he could go home and tell everyone he was a hero. What was he supposed to tell them for though, monsters?

"Welcome, hero, to our dining room," said the green-skinned troll, ripping Corin from his thoughts.

"You can call me Corin. I would much rather it," said Corin.

"Whatever you wish her- Corin," answered the troll, showing his pointy teeth.

"Thank you. So our plan to defeat this... queen," said Corin. "What is it?"

All of the trolls looked at him strangely and laughed. "Well that's up to you and Butchy," chuckled the red-skinned troll. "Butchy why don't you stand up. I think he only knows you as the green-skinned troll."

The green-skinned troll, Butchy, stood up and said, "Hello, I am your mentor."

"Hello, nice to meet you Butchy," Corin said.

Butchy looked at Corin and said, "So, you got any ideas on how to find the sword?"
